So, we will see if I can continue to post on the weekends. I will do my best and try to give warning if I think that I may not be posting for a couple of days. And I was caught! I was told that it had been a few days... but it hasn't been a week like last time.
With the way that the weather has been lately, we spent another lazy day at home; with the exception of a Costco run. I am thankful that I was able to get some stuff done around the house. When I was pregnant, the thought of getting up and doing anything made me tired. These days I find myself sleeping a little less but I have been able to get more done.
After we had dinner, Mike asked if I wanted to do a spontaneous game night. He decided to invite Ben and Ryan (Jon was in Tacoma for the Seahawks game, that is why he was not invited). They did end up coming over and we played this awesome game called Munchkin. It was nice to have family over and to not have to pack up Pumpkin and everything that she would need.
Good morning Grandpa! |
So, the story behind the following pouty face:
I had Olivia laying on the floor. She was content and giving me multiple smiles while trying to blab away. For who knows what reason, I decided to show her mom's pouty lip. Yup, I just stuck it out there. She slowly stopped moving and stared at me. Then little by little HER pouty lip came out. And the end result? YES! Mom was able to make her cry without touching or even talking. :'( I felt slightly bad.
We tried something different for dinner. We are calling them Pepper Dippers! Yummy!

November 9th: I am thankful for dinner parties and mommy advice.
Seahawk Sunday!! Yes, let's just start with the fact that we are excited that the Seahawks won. We ended up going over to Jon and Ben's house to hang out with Ben and Ryan.
I think that Mike keeps our house cold but the boy's house was FREEZING! Not good for a baby. We had a little space heater on and I tried to keep her bundled up as much as possible. It did not help that Pumpkin had a rough day. We are not quite sure what is going on but we will find out tomorrow at the doctors office.

Uh oh! Mom got your face! |
Yeah, cheering her up did not go so well. |
After the game, we went over to my friend Ellie's house (if you have read my earlier blog, she is the one who got married up on Greenbluff). She had her family over and it was a great time to just visit and just visit with everyone. After her family left and her husband went to the store, Mike and I were able to chat with Ellie. It was really nice to talk to someone who has somewhat recently gone through this new mother thing. I was able to ask what her experiences were and how she handled things.
What I am taking away is that I have definitely NOT done enough research into things. How long should I breastfeed? Should we vaccinate? When should we start to potty train? And the list goes on. It hit me, not sure about Mike, that we need to do some better research on things, and well in advance.
We probably could have stayed all night but Ellie had to get up early. IT WAS SO COLD WHEN WE LEFT! Winter is definitely coming.

November 10th: I am thankful for Olivia's swing.
I actually thought about blogging last night but I was tired and wanted to get some sleep. My plan this morning was to do a little cleaning, get some work done, and then do some blogging. Well, things did not go according to plans.
I was able to do a little cleaning and then fed Olivia before putting her down for her first nap of the day. I opened the blinds in the dining room and had been working for just a little bit when I saw my neighbor out the window. -_- He was waving and pointing to get me to come to the door. If you have ever heard us complain about our neighbor you know why I put that straight face. He asked if I had plans for the day and I nervously told him that I have work to do. He said okay and I made the mistake of asking him what he needed. He then proceeded to ask me if I could watch his kids for a little while because he really had to go and do something. His babies' mom was at work and has their only car. I, somewhat reluctantly, said yes. He lit up and said that he would be back in 5 - 10 minutes.
Now, he has two kids. His little boy is four, I believe. And his baby girl is about 5 months. He brought the kids over, said thank you, and took off. Not but a few minutes later, he was back at the door, not to pick up his kids but to ask for a ride to Gonzaga. I already had his kids and it was freezing outside so I woke up Mike :/ and drove our neighbor over near Gonzaga. While we were driving, he kept thanking me, apologized for all of the noise and fighting that he and his girlfriend do, and then decided to "be honest with me". "I just need to be honest with you. I probably won't be back until really late tonight, if at all." Wait..... WHAT!?! That was NOT part of the deal. He said that his girlfriend would be home not long after 4pm. The only emergency phone number he had to give me was his moms, and she lives in Georgia I believe. He said that he told his girlfriend that if he went anywhere that we would have the kids because we were the only people he could trust to watch them.
PICTURE BREAK!:
Sleepy baby |
So I got home and let Mike go back to bed. I have nothing for a boy, or even a 4 year old for that matter, to play with. I put on a movie but he was not really interested. Then I discovered that he was just making sounds and not speaking at all... not even mom or dad. Nothing. It broke my heart! Not only because I am now a mom but I am a teacher also. It reminded me that it is so important to talk to and read to your kids. Yes, there may be something wrong with him but more than likely, he is just not getting any help from his dad who he stays home with all day. Olivia is only two months and she is already oo-ing and goo-ing and I hope will be talking early.
The neighbors kids are stinkin cute though! I was trying to play with the kids while Olivia and Mike slept when I heard the neighbors door close. It is weird because he told he that it was unlocked because he lost his key and that his girlfriend would not be home until after 4pm. When I opened the blinds to see what was going on, the girlfriend (mom) walked out of the house! Then she went back in, came back out, and started to head to her car. I called after her and said,' Do you know that we have your kids?" She replied with, "You have my kids? I'll be right back." She went to her car and came back to get her kids. She asked where their dad had gone. I told her he said that he needed to go do something. She asked of the kids were any trouble and then they were gone. So so so weird. I'm still not sure what to think but I told Mike that it was NOT going to become a habit. However, it gave me a little peak into what it might be like to have more than one kid.
She was a happy girl while I worked :) |
I did end up getting some work done and then took a short nap on the couch with Olivia. She was fussy and I could not figure out what was wrong. This evening I had to go into the office for a meeting. Before I left, Mike took Olivia to change her diaper as I warmed up the bottle. The next thing I know, Olivia is screaming in her room. We could not get her to calm down. The bottle helped a little bit and then she was knocked out. Bouncing or swinging her in her swing was helpful all day to get her to fall asleep. Thank you!
When I go home Mike said that she had be gassy and had just poked herself in the eye and it mad her cry. Ugh! Thankfully I cut her nails this morning so they were not as sharp. Even now, there is still a little red around her eye. Poor baby. I want to help but I have no idea what to do. Hopefully her doctor will be helpful tomorrow. i
I have now been sitting here for two hours typing, eating Brie, watching Property Brothers on Netflix, and stretching my thumb. Yeah, by right thumb started hurting today. Well, here is one last video because I need to go pump and go to bed so that I don't have a mess in the morning :)
