I have never been a fan of Mondays.... but how many people are? I got up early and was able to go into the office to get some work done. Boy did those 5 hours fly by! I went home so that Mike could take a cat nap and then get ready for work. Having a meeting this evening, I had to take Mike to work so I would have the car. I think that my students enjoyed meeting Olivia for the first time, or seeing her again. She was so tired by the time we got home but she only got a little nap before we had to get back in the car (and it was freezing) to go and pick up Mike from work at 10pm. Besides the running around, the day was pretty good and moved quickly. That is always a plus!

November 18th: I am thankful for Olivia's new doctor and my brothers for babysitting!
Olivia had her two month check-up this morning. We changed doctors because Rockwood did not take her insurance, so now we are at Northwest Spokane Pediatrics. As we were getting out of the car, I realized that I did not have my wallet which has her insurance card in it -_- I made Mike get out and I hustled back to the house. It was a good thing because Mike called me to let me know that he needed her SSN. Way to go Aly! I need to make a checklist for doctors appointments. Then once I got there, I realized that I grabbed her check-up book and not her immunization book -_- Oh well, I'll get it done right the next time.
So here is the update on our little Goober:
Height: 24 1/4 inches
Weight: 12.7 lbs
Head Circumference: 15 1/2 inches
She is going great! Remember that picture I posted of her leg looking bent? Well the doctor said that it does look a little bowed but that it is completely normal. Of course she is going to keep an eye on it but she thinks that it will straighten out. She also recommended that we hold Olivia up every so often and rest her on her feet in order to strengthen her leg muscles. The doctor said that we need to be working on more tummy time in order to start strengthening her back and next muscles. Work out routines for the baby!
Poor thing also got her vaccinations. :'( talk about getting the parents to cry! Well, almost cry. She was given three in shots and one orally. I was given the task of holding her arms down but I had to look away. Shots are one of my least favorite things and it hurt to hear her cry :( The nurse said that she may get a small fever and that not only is it normal but a good thing because it shows that her immune system is up for the challenge. She did have some pink cheeks when I got home from work this evening.
Thank you to Ryan and Ben for coming over to babysit! I had a meeting from 1-3 and Mike had to be to work at 2. We picked up Ryan after Olivia's appointment and Ben met us at my house. They didn't kill her! Yay! :) At this point she really isn't much work except for her sore leg from the shots.
Waiting for daddy to get home! |

Learning for the Day:
If you did not know, my sister Megan is working on her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse). She would love to work in labor and deliver someday. There are times when I will call and ask her medical questions and just about every time her response is, "Oh! I'm taking that class next quarter! I'll get back to you :) " HAHA! Love it! But tonight she called and asked if I had ever heard of "the let-down reflex". Uhhh, why don't you explain it to me.
Well, it is the reflex that happens when the breasts start to release milk for the baby. Megan was studying and reading that when women have trouble getting things going when nursing or pumping, more so when they are pumping, that they should watch a video of their baby making noises or smell an article of their babies clothing. What??? Yes, that is correct. It triggers the breast to start releasing the milk because "there is a baby that needs to eat". I did not know that is what it is called but I have definitely experienced that feeling at times when I hear Olivia cry. I have even had a reflex when I am out and about without Olivia and I hear other babies.
Here is a link if you would like to learn more (I don't know, maybe we have made you curious). http://www.breastmilkcounts.com/let-down-reflex.php
