What a week this has been. Thankfully tomorrow is Friday. We ended up having a bad alternator :( It took us a while to get everything done today because we had to wait for them to check the battery first so we went and had breakfast at McDonald's.
It was a long morning and although she looks really cute in these pictures, she was not happy at all. Mike's boss was kind enough to let us borrow this car so that we could get everything we need to get the car fixed. Mike ended up fixing it himself in, I want to say, less than an hour and a half! I am so proud of him! When the alternator went out on the Ford, it was an all day ordeal and he needed help from a friend. It was so cold outside and by the time he was done and we had returned his boss's car, he had almost been up for 24 hours and went to bed with a smile on his face.I am so thankful that he was willing to stay up and even attempt to do it himself.

I have an app on my phone called Sleepbot that records my movements when I sleep and can record the sound if I want it to. It is interesting to see when I move the most in the night. This morning I was thinking about how horrible of a week this has been and then I went and checked how I slept the last couple of nights. Yeah, I was all over the place. I woke up Monday ready for the week so I checked Sunday night and I had hardly moved at all. Probably need to do some more investigating. Interesting to see how it works.
We had our first experience of last minute babysitter hunting. Instead of working from home, I tried to find someone who could come and sit with Olivia while I went to a meeting this evening so that Mike could sleep. My dear friend Stephanie ended up leaving work early and coming over. Thank you so much Stephanie! You have no idea how much we appreciate you. <3 <3
So..... is her leg going to straighten out?? This doesn't look natural.... |
Getting chunky? I think so! |

Babies need lots of love and physical contact. I realized today that we have gotten into the habit of putting Olivia in her chair and thinking that she is content so that we can get stuff done. Since we are not usually home and awake at the same time, we both seem to be doing it. So when is she being held? When do we take the time to just cuddle with her? I have tried to stay off of my phone while I am with her and have tried to keep the TV off more. These young years are crucial in the development of a child. It is important to remember that! I have found myself talking more to her in just my normal talking voice as opposed to the high pitched voice that people use when talking to babies... you know you do :) I tell her things like, "someday I will be the coolest person ever to you and on another day, I will also be the strangest person ever to you. You will probably hate me at times. But I now understand grandma and grandpa a lot more." Just having an honest conversation with my Pumpkin.
These are the pictures that Stephanie took while I was at work:
Playing with that thumb! She is enjoying sucking on her fingers/hands. |

Today is really just full of a bunch of random thoughts. Maybe that is because I am way over tired. Remember my story about our neighbor? Well, neither of us have seen him. We have not seen his girlfriend much either. We have no idea what is going on. But I decided to take a picture of what is going on in their front yard :D Their outside faucet continues to drip and freeze. I wonder how long they will continue to let that happen. They should probably call our landlord and let her know.
